English Ι (Terminology) 45 The course “Foreign Language” is a compulsory course. The course runs for one semester and its main objective is to familiarize students with the basic terminology encountered in the most important fields in Physics, namely: Mechanics-Kinematics, Forms of Energy, Thermodynamics, Electric Current – Circuits – Electromagnetism-Batteries,  Electronics – Transistors,  Wave-Particle Duality Phenomena – Light,  Sound Waves,  Nuclear Physics, Quantum Physics.
Additionally students are taught how tense use, noun phrases and passive voice are customized in Academic English. Finally, they are offered some ground knowledge of Technical and Academic Writing, namely the writing of: Definition paragraphs, Classification paragraphs, Cause-effect paragraphs, Process-description paragraphs, Paraphrases, Paragraphs describing graphs and statistical data.
Students having a C2 level of knowledge of ASEP (e.g. Proficiency certificate in English) may be exempted, if they wish, from the examination of the course receiving a grade of seven (7). These students should register for the course and then submit an application to the Secretariat attaching a certified copy of the corresponding certificate. Students who wish to improve the aforementioned grade may participate in the examination of the course during the exam periods of the academic year for which the course has been included in the registration form.
