 “Successful Cross-cultural Communication - Prerequisite of a Global Citizen

It is our great pleasure to invite you to attend the talk by our invited English Lecturer, Ms Vaida Žegunienė, from the Klaipeda University (Lithuania) on the following topic: “Successful Cross-cultural Communication - Prerequisite of a Global Citizen”.

Her presentation is going to focus on relevant issues, including:

  • A profile of global citizen
  • Short review of a communication process.
  • Understanding of a concept “culture”
  • Culture + communication - intercultural communication
  • Cross-cultural competence and its peculiarities
  • How to be successful in the global arena

The event will be hosted on Wednesday 3rd April 2019, at 11.00-13.00, in Room 222 of the Foreign Languages Centre (ground floor of Central Library Building).  Ms Vaida Žegunienė is visiting the University of Ioannina within the framework of Erasmus+ staff mobility, as the Foreign Languages Centre has a bi-lateral inter-institutional agreement with the specific University in Lithuania.  The talk will be given in English.

SHORT BIO

Ms Vaida Žegunienė works as an English language lecturer at Klaipeda University for the last 15 years. She has participated in international projects related to poor literacy and numeracy skills development, preparing methodology and various activities for foreign language teaching/learning.  Her scientific interests are: the English language teaching methodology, innovative methods and tools used for more efficient language teaching/learning process, English for specific purposes, development of global and intercultural competences and applied linguistics.  Ms Vaida Žegunienė has recently started doctoral studies and her dissertation reveals peculiarities of global citizenship education. Besides that, Vaida likes travelling, sports and prefers activities developing personality and professional skills.
