 The language centre of the University of Ioannina (http…..flc) is putting together a new pilot scheme project introducing the opportunity of learning Turkish language at the university for the very first time in its history. The will be offered to students at beginners levels (A1-A2)
The lessons will be organised and run by student teacher Emre Akinci ( Erasmus+student, sakarya,university) every Tuesday between 13.00 and 16.00 hours. Location- room 222 at the foreign language laboratory Central library building next to the canteen. The centre uses the most up to date technology and new programmes including the use of an online language data base to enhance the learning capabilities and progress of students.

Kind regards IELTS Pilot Course Announcement The Foreign Language Centre organises a new pilot course on IELTS ™ Academic for the spring semester 2017-2018, addressed to the students of the School of Health Sciences. The lessons will start from mid-March 2018 and end in June 2018. Two groups of students will be formed to accommodate approximately a number of 60 students.
IELTS Academic is a certificate widely recognised for entry to study at undergraduate or postgraduate levels, and also for professional registration purposes. It assesses whether one is ready to begin studying or training in an environment where English language is used. Thus, the course was set up to supplement the School's English courses in an effort to aid students in their future studies. Most importantly, the course is part of a wider research project on Innovating Teaching methodologies and Anxiety. Instructor: Vasilis Theodoros Kyriakou, BA Academic coordinator: Theodora Tseligka, Senior Teaching Fellow in EAP/ESP, Dept. of Medicine A NEW PILOT COURSE IN ITALIAN LANGUAGE (SPRING SEMESTER 2017-2018) The Foreign Languages Center is currently organizing a new pilot course in Italian language learning for the spring semester. The action is implemented with funding from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The lessons will start at the beginning of March and will be completed by the end of June 2018. Three groups (a total of 30 students will be accepted in each group) will be formed as follows:

Fotopoulos, Vice-Rector Academic co-ordinator: Theodora Tseligka, Senior Teaching Fellow in EAP/ESP, Medical School Pilot Course: Oral Practice Sessions in English for Health Sciences During the winter semester 2017-2018 the Foreign Languages Center of the University of Ioannina organized oral practice sessions in English for the students of the School of Health Sciences. From the beginning of October till the end of December 2017 small groups of students from the Depts. of Medicine and Biological Applications and Technology discussed on a weekly basis current issues of medical and biological interest, such as science and gender, mental health, vaccination, euthanasia etc. in order to practice their oral skills in the English language. The programme was inspired by Julia Ziener from the University of Regensburg (Germany), who carried out her practice in the Foreign Languages Center of the University of Ioannina and she is currently at the final stage of her Master Programme in Linguistics. The Academic coordinator of the programme was Dr. T. Tseligka (Senior Teaching Fellow in EAP/ESP at the Department of Medicine). SPANISH FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES During the winter semester 2017-2018 the Foreign Languages Center of the University of Ioannina organized a short intensive course in Spanish for Academic purposes. Lessons took place from 9th October till 15th December by Jaime Sanz Burdiel (BA in Spanish Philology at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, MA in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language) and it was a great success.
The students’ interest was unexpectedly large and more than 250 signed up to participate in the programme. Finally, around 70 students were accepted and 3 groups were put together, two for beginners’ level (A1) and one for students in intermediate level (B1).
Pilot course: Language preparation for IELTS (Spring semester 2012-2013) During the 2012-2013 spring a pilot course ‘Linguistic preparation for IELTS’ was held for the first time. The teacher of the course was L. Serbi-Chitou. The students’ interest was unexpectedly high. A total of 250 students applied for the course out of which 50 were selected after a placement test to participate. |
