SPANISH FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES

During the winter semester 2017-2018 the Foreign Languages Center of the University of Ioannina organized a short intensive course in Spanish for Academic purposes. Lessons took place from 9th October till 15th December by Jaime Sanz Burdiel (BA in Spanish Philology at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, MA in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language) and it was a great success.

The students’ interest was unexpectedly large and more than 250 signed up to participate in the programme. Finally, around 70 students were accepted and 3 groups were put together, two for beginners’ level (A1) and one for students in intermediate level (B1).
The students of all levels evaluated the programme very positively. It is also worth mentioning that all the participants showed a great progress in their language level based on the language pre- and post-assessment tests. We do hope that this course will continue in the following years.
We would like to thank especially Jaime Sanz Burdiel who encouraged the students throughout the whole course and put into practice effective innovative teaching methods. The Academic coordinator of the programme was Dr. T. Tseligka, Senior Teaching Fellow in English Language.

A new course: Spanish for Academic Purposes

The Foreign Languages Centre of the University of Ioannina is organizing a short intensive course in Spanish for Academic Purposes. Lessons will take place from 9^th October till 15^th December 2017 by Jaime Sanz Burdiel (BA in Spanish Philology at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, MA in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language)

The following courses will be offered:

Monday: 13.00-16.00 (Beginners1_Level A1) – Group A

Tuesday: 13.00-16.00 (Beginners2_Level A1) – Group B

Wednesday: 13.00-16.00 (Intermediate level_Level B1) – Group C

Students who are interested can apply by filling in the application form in the link below. The deadline is Friday, 6^th October 2017, 11.00 am.

In case more than 25 students per group apply, there will be a draw on Friday, 6^th October 12.30p.m., at the Foreign Languages Centre of the University of Ioannina (Room 213-214, ground floor of Central Library Building).

Please mind that only students who hold a B2 Certificate in English can apply for this course.
